Being who he is means he often finds himself in strange situations. Mostly dangerous, sometimes paranormal, and sometimes out right bizarre even by his standards. He had no intention of accepting this particular job because; one, the client stayed anonymous unless he accepted; two, they told him no details about what he needed to do; three, he would be paid AFTER the job and no advance payment. Suspicious doesn't bother him, he has that in spades, but the "no money up front" was a problem.
